The Kano State Traders Association on Friday ordered the closure of all markets in the state to enable eligible voters among traders to collect their Permanent Voter Cards.
This is contained in statement signed by the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Liti Kulkul in Kano.
“All markets will remain closed Friday as part of decisions taken to allow our members to go and collect their permanent voter cards,” it said.
According to the statement, the decision is to enable traders to use the whole day to acquire the PVCs.
The statement urged traders in the state to make the best use of the opportunity to participate fully in the exercise.
The statement, which urged traders to support the decision, also called for continuous prayers for the sustenance of peace in the state and the country.
NAN recalled that the state government had also declared Friday as public holiday to enable people partake in the exercise.
