The Vice Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Finance, Mr. Yinka Ogundimu, has said the All Progressives Congress will make a clean sweep of the governorship and all other elective posts in next year’s general elections.

Speaking in Agege, on Sunday, the representative of Agege 02 state constituency said the APC had delivered the dividends of democracy to Lagosians, adding that the electorate would reciprocate the party’s gesture by re-electing APC candidates across board.

Ogundimu, who explained that the internally generated revenue of the state had been judiciously spent on infrastructure, maintained that Lagos remained a reference point in good governance.

He said, “The brand of governance by the APC in Lagos is unique. Lagos has been a reference point by even members of the Peoples Democratic Party, who have continuously hailed the leading role Lagos government has played in the country.

“From the time when our national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, blazed the trail in responsive governance between 1999 and 2007, till the time the incumbent, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), took over from him and further expanded the frontiers of governance, Lagos has not been the same.

“I laugh when I hear any party saying that it would defeat the APC in Lagos. Well, I will say they are expressing their freedom of speech. Within themselves, they know that they cannot wrest Lagos from us.”

Ogundimu, who is seeking re-election into the legislature, maintained that the electorate in the state would vote for continuation, competence and performance.

He said, “Lagos voters are enlightened; they know what they want and no amount of politics of bitterness would colour their assessment of the government. Politics should be played decently. You don’t need to lie or mudsling in order to win votes.

“There’s no comparison between what we have in Lagos and what the federal Government is offering Nigerians. Nigerians should take the leadership we are offering in Lagos and other APC states as an example of what we will do when voted into power at the federal level next year.”
