Ben Carson-A Possible Presidential Contender

As the hype for the 2016 presidential race heightens, there are several names that are being tossed around. Everyone knows that Hillary Clinton will run in the next election, but what about Ben Carson? He has sold just as many books as Ms. Clinton, and he is dropping hints that a run for office may be forthcoming. However, the best-selling author and commentator would be an independent party and from his latest comments, the moral decline of America is his top concern.

It all started with the National Prayer Breakfast last year. He spoke very candidly about what was wrong with the Obama administration. He talked about the moral decline and how things must be changed from the top down. Recently, an article posted by the Washington Journal headlined that Mr. Carson maybe running for president. To further extend the hype, websites are offering car magnets, coffee mugs, tee shirts and baby clothing with the logo “Carson for President in 2016.”

Carson has been in the public eye many times before. In 2008, George Busch awarded him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work as a neurosurgeon. He first got his fifteen minutes of fame when he separated conjoined twins in 1986. Up until this point, separation of twins was something that was questions and even doubted among the medical community. Add to his fame six best-selling books and his general ideas that inspire many about what’s wrong in American and how to fix it, and it’s possible he may be the answer to the countries problems.

Though he is being pushed as a candidate for the Republican team, Carson has stated that he is an independent and wishes to remain separate from the two dominate parties. In America, independent parties typically don’t win and do more at causing an upset in the numbers than anything else. Consequently, with the public’s outcry for change and the desire to rid their country of the current presidential debacle, it is any bodies guess at this point.

Carson is intrigued by the hype regarding his possibly run for president, however, he has not given a clean answer whether or not he will run. He is entertaining the idea though and has not shut down any hype surrounding the topic. It seems that his following is increasing, as he is saying just the right thing to tickle the ears of the American public. People are tired of the current administration and want change, and Mr. Carson may be just the change that country is looking for.
