Abuja – The Peoples’ Democratic
Party (PDP) has urged Nigerians to use the period of Eid-El-Kabir to
re-dedicate themselves to God by rekindling the spirit of sacrifice, patience
and love.
This is contained in the party`s
goodwill message issued by Mr Olsa Metuh, its National Publicity Secretary on
Friday in Abuja.
The statement charged Nigerians to
use the period of this year`s Eid El- Kabir to reflect on the virtue of faith
and total submission to the will of the Almighty God.
It noted that this was exemplified
by Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael in
obedience to God’s command.
“Indeed, the Eid El-Kabir teaches
great lessons in faith in the Almighty God, who in His infinite wisdom destined
Nigeria as one united, indivisible and prosperous nation.
“We must re-dedicate ourselves to
the values that unite and strengthen us as a people and resist all vices that
seek to weaken and tear us apart,’’ the statement said.
It further urged Nigerians to keep
hope alive, pray and work toward the greatness and development of the country.
The statement reiterated the party`s
commitment to the country`s unity and prosperity.
It assured that PDP would remain
steadfast to guarantee a free and democratic society where the powers and
actions of government were lawful, while ensuring the welfare and prosperity of
the people.
It said that the party would achieve
this through sound policies and rapid infrastructural development in line with
its ideologies and visions of its founding fathers.
The statement wished Nigerians a
happy Eid El- Kabir and urged them to continue considering the less-privileged
at all times.
