Emir urges Nigerians to shun violence during 2015 elections

Kabir, has urged Nigerians to shun violence during the 2015 general elections.
He made the call on Sunday in
Katsina when he paid a traditional Sallah homage to Gov. Ibrahim Shema.
Kabir noted that nothing was
achieved through violence hence the need for the people to steer clear of such
tendencies.
He called on politicians to play
politics in accordance with the rules and regulation for the development of
democracy and the country in general.
The Emir criticised some politicians
who instigated the youth to cause mayhem and destroy lives and property for
their selfish interests.
Kabir urged parents to ensure proper
upbringing of their children and wards in other to prevent them from being
manipulated by politicians who engaged them as thugs.
He also urged wealthy individuals to
complement governments’ efforts by contributing to the development of
education.
In his remarks, Gov. Shema urged the
people to shun politics of “bitterness and do or die affair.“
“People should note that leadership
is from God as He gives it to whom He pleases at the time He wishes,’’ he said.
He, therefore, called on Nigerians
to embrace all acts that were capable of strengthening the unity of the nation
and desist from ethnicity and religious sentiments during the 2015
electioneering campaigns.
Shema said that his administration
had accorded education top priority, offered free education at primary and
secondary levels and scholarship to students of tertiary institutions at home
and abroad.
He said that the state government
would soon commission ICT centres in Katsina to make the youth computer
literate in line with the global trend.
The governor also noted that
government had constructed more than 340 primary healthcare centres to enhance
healthcare delivery in the state.(NAN)
