Deputy Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lola Akande, has urged
all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, tribes and ethnic background, to
embrace peace for the betterment of the country.
Akande, who gave this charge in her Eid-el-Kabir message on Friday, noted
that only fervent prayers from all Nigerians could put the country among the
best countries in the world.
“I want to call on all Nigerians, especially Muslim brothers and sisters, to
eschew violence and promote peace, unity, understanding and show love to one
another as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH),” Akande said.
She also called on politicians not to create unnecessary tension that would
cause mayhem within their constituencies as the 2015 general elections draw
near.
“Our youths should not be used as thugs, especially during the forthcoming
elections,” she said.
