The current challenges facing Nigeria notwithstanding, governorship
aspirant in Oyo State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
Seyi Makinde, has maintained that “there is hope for tomorrow”.
This was contained in the goodwill message sent to Muslims in the country
and Oyo State in particular on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir
celebrations.
Makinde, who expressed confidence in the ability of President Goodluck
Jonathan to move the country forward, called for support and cooperation from
everyone.
He congratulated Muslims for seeing another Eid-el-Kabir and called on them
to use the occasion to reflect on its spiritual importance of and dwell on
moving closer to Almighty Allah.
Makinde reminded all the pilgrims currently in Mecca to remember both the
country and Oyo State in their prayers for peace and progress, noting that,
“This becomes imperative in view of the crucial 2015 general elections.”
“We need peace in the country and in our state, to move forward and I
earnestly enjoin my brothers and sisters, irrespective of whatever faith we
profess, to imbibe the spirit of oneness, peace, unity and brotherliness as
preached by our holy books,” Makinde said.
