A former Military Governor of Kaduna State, Col Dangiwa Umar (retd) has described the way and manner some state governors borrow money from commercials banks and other financial institutions for the purpose of financing dubious projects, as dangerous.
The former governor said it had become necessary to alert the nation of the “dangerous, indeed explosive scheme” of some of the governors engaging in acts capable of mortgaging the future of their states.
He therefore, called on the nation’s anti-graft agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the ICPC to quickly arrest the situation.
He argued that left for the respective states’ legislatures, the governors would continue with the so-called dubious borrowing, since the various houses of assembly are now the appendages of the executive.
Umar, also warned commercial banks and other financial houses to henceforth stop further connivance with some of the governors (whom he refused to name), from collecting questionable loans.
