Why I want to be Imo governor —Ararume

Senator Ifeanyi Ararume

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, has said the deficit of leadership in Imo State and his desire to correct this anomaly informed his desire to contest.

Ararume, said this in an interview with journalists in Abuja, on Sunday.

According to him, he first aspired for the position in 2007 because he was confident that he had and still has what it takes to make Imo State take its pride of place not only in the South-East but in Nigeria as a whole.

He said credit must be given to the former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa, who tried his best especially his efforts towards improving the education sector.

Ararume said, “But you know governance and government are a continuum because at that time he did his best and I felt that those things that he tried to do are things that we can build on to further develop the state, whether in the area of education, area of infrastructure development, whether it is the area of health care, or it is in the area of ICT.

“Taking our state to the next level, whether it is inter-relation between our state and the neighboring states in order to have our economies merged.”

He expressed sadness that nearly eight years after, most of the problems facing the state remain unsolved.

The former legislator said his experience in business and as well as philanthropy would be brought to bear in his administration of the state if given the opportunity.

He expressed the confidence that the country would win the war against terrorism.
