Ibadan gov aspirants not creating division –Oyelese

The initiator of the forum that brought together Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship aspirants of Ibadan origin, who are demanding the party’s sole governorship ticket, Elder Wole Oyelese, has said the objective of the forum is not to break the party.

Oyelese, who spoke in Ibadan while reacting to the party’s timetable and guideline for the November 9 governorship primary in the state, told our correspondent that the initiative would help all the zones in the state to enjoy the right to rule through the party.

“What we are fighting for will benefit Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso and Ibarapa zones and not just Ibadan alone.

“What we are doing is not a way to create division. What people are not hammering is that fact that we want every zone to enjoy the right to rule,” Oyelese said.

When reminded that Ibadan has produced four governors as against the only two produced outside the city since Osun State was carved out of Oyo State in 1991, Oyelese said the forum was only concerned about PDP-led government.

The former minister also said that contrary to the insinuations that he had assumed the role of a godfather in the state in place of his governorship ambition, he said he was the most formidable aspirant of the party now and that the new guideline gave him the confidence that a credible candidate would emerge as the party’s candidate in November.
