Oyo APC lauds peaceful conduct of primary

Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has commended its members for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primary on Tuesday.

The primary produced candidates for each of the 32 constituencies in the state.

The congress committee from the National Headquarters of APC was led by Lumumba Adeh with support from the state executive.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the APC, on Tuesday, attributed the success of the exercise to the priority given to internal democracy in the party and the desire to convince the electorate of the readiness of the party to drive the desired change in the country.

“We have had many party primaries and congresses in the past in Oyo State conducted by other political parties in which residents would usually bear the brunt as a result of violence in the hands of thugs sponsored by different camps.

“But in our own case, an atmosphere of peace and tranquility was sustained throughout the state,” the statement said.

“From Ibadan to Oke-Ogun, Oyo to Ogbomoso and the rest, no single case of violence or protest was recorded and this is an eloquent testimony that APC is a peace-loving party which has to be fully supported by the electorate in the 2015 general elections.

“We further assure the general public of our commitment to the sustenance of peace in the state and we use this opportunity to warn those planning to re-introduce violence, lawlessness and impunity into the ‘Pacesetter State’ to have a rethink because the masses would resist them,” the statement added.
